Old Parish Church

Golf Links Road, Llandrindod Wells LD1 5NT

The Old Parish Church of Holy Trinity lies on the edge of, what was, an extensive tract of common upland. It originally had a single chamber of 13th /14th -century build with a south porch and small west spire. It was completely rebuilt in 1894 following a period of substantial structural decline, exacerbated by the increasing popularity of the town centre church.

But, this was the origin of the name Llandrindod. Llandow in 1283 and Lando in 1291 meaning ‘church of God’. Llandynddod appears only in 1535, translating as “church of the Trinity”. The adjacent Llandrindod Hall (now demolished) started the spa tourism boom.

The views from the churchyard (still being used) are spectacular.
